About the Study
Hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) is a chemical compound consisting of two hydrogen atoms and two oxygen atoms. It is widely recognized as a powerful oxidizing agent and has been utilized for various medical purposes includ - ing cancer treatment.
Antiseptic properties
Hydrogen peroxide exhibits potent antiseptic properties due to its ability to release oxygen upon contact with tissues. It acts as a mild disinfectant by destroying bacteria, viruses, and fungi. When applied to wounds, hydrogen peroxide releases oxygen bubbles, mechanically removing debris and minimizing the risk of infection. Its broad spectrum of antimicrobial activity makes it an effective choice for cleansing and decontaminating minor cuts, scrapes, and burns.
Wound healing
Hydrogen peroxide plays a crucial role in wound healing due to its capacity to promote oxygenation and angiogenesis. Oxygen, released upon contact with wound tissues, creates an oxygen-rich environment that facilitates tissue regeneration and accelerates the healing process. Furthermore, hydrogen peroxide stimulates the release of growth factors, enhancing cell migration and collagen synthesis.
